40 years ago, when my father Genadij Ralf purchased an East European sheep-dog named Uran began my way to the dog-breeding. Father not just loved dogs - he was an active organizer of dog shows and training schools. At journeys, shows, training exercises I was everywhere with him and our dog. Later, when Uran started “to work” with police, it stayed only to wait and dream, when I could have my own dog.
The beginning was just childlike, though I was an adult woman. Ones, watching on TV Moscow circus show, I saw a rocking hippopotamus with a newfoundland dog on his back. That was a love from the first sight! I went to a club, unfortunately there were only several newfoundlands in Lithuania. I signed in the line to bay a puppy. It would take a long time, but I wanted get him as soon as possible. Discovered that in St. Petersburg (in that time - Leningrad) it was not a problem to purchase a puppy, I went to. That how did appear she-dog Nikol. The dream became true in 1989. From that time I started to be interested in newfoundland breed, collect literature and ride to shows.
During the shows I met Latvians colleges, from them bought male-dog Endi. Later appeared others…
When Nikol and Endi‘s puppies came, I kept pretty one called Isida. My heart did not let me sold her. While selling others I saw wonderful landseer puppies, brought from Byelorussia.
And again a love from the first sight… I bought even two, because wanted very much that the landseer club appeared in Lithuania. Kept female to myself and male passed to other cynologist Daiva Kumetyte. From appearance and character landseers and newfoundlands are similar, they perfect getting on. Many people think, that to keep a newfoundland is a luxury. However it should speak not about money, it is apoint of view. Most of people buying newfoundlands are intellectuals and I am proud of that. Not without reason G. Bairon, W. Scott, M. Rostropovich had such dogs. This breed is really friendly, a combination of peacefulness, comprehension and beauty.
